being an academic

yea, as i mentioned before somewhere on my posts, i am now actually tutoring in Monash. One of my former tutor actually just become a lecturer this semester, and he needed to have an extra tutor.

The subject is a 2nd year core subject, and im pretty sure that most of them have no idea what the subject is suppose to be about at first.
But, since it is a core subject then we got quite many students enrolled in the unit. Actually, we got 120 students. *Quite a lot for IT i guess..

I am teaching 2 tutorials, means 40 students (in theory), but then since there are a lot of timetable clashes, i dont know how many students are actually on my class.
Plus some of them are switching from my first day tutorial to the other one..
and vice versa..
Well, i dont mind, i really dont..

What bothers me, then?
i know its kind of cool being a tutor sometimes - from some point of view,
but i dont know if this is really is what i want to do in the future..
being an academic?
hm.. just doesnt sounds right to me..

plus, knowing here in Monash, as an academic you have to keep publishing papers every year..
in fact, you got paid for publishing papers..
and then, apparently, dealing with students is not the hardest part,
or maybe it is the easiest part of being an academic..
the way Monash maintain its standard is just crazy..
i think tutoring is great,
but i dont want to do it next year,
i want to start working in the real industry..

lets see later,
how it goes with my tutoring at the end of the semester..
people just never get satisfied~
